Since 2006, I made several expeditions to high altitude cleaning of my free time student: Aconcagua (6962m) in 2006 and 2007 equipped by Mountain Hardwear, Kanchenjunga Base Camp (5200m) sponsored by Millet, Reunion (December 2007) , The Alps and Mont Blanc (4807m) in 2007 and Gasherbrum (8035m) in Pakistan in summer 2009 and summer 2010.

I could sometimes pick up 150kg of waste in one shipment. Since 2006, I picked up a total of over 550kg of waste. This earned me the nickname of "Sweeper Treetop"

But this waste, abandoned by commercial shipments poorly organized, or independent climbers with few scruples are a scourge to the ecosystem of these places and isolated extremely fragile!

A shipment of my returns, I take the time to share my experience and passion with children. Indeed, during intervention in primary schools across France or in public lectures, and I am aware of interest to children (actors and decision makers of tomorrow), environmental issues and the impact of our actions all days on the environment.

Having realized both that my actions have a very positive impact with children and their parents and teachers, and secondly that the national media (radio, TV, press, internet) just waiting for my next pictures the broadcast, I decided to bring another dimension to my project: expertise.

Indeed, during the years 2008-2009, I conducted an MSc in Environmental Management at Lincoln University, Christchurch (New Zealand), to acquire the expertise necessary to analyze the phenomena that I can observe at altitude and to provide practical solutions.
That's why I wrote my thesis on "Waste Management in High Altitude through a practical case: THE Gasherbrum: 8000m of Pakistan" - expedition was conducted in 2009. I prepare to present the EDELWEISS project (2011-2016) which consists of cleaning the mountains for 6 months and intervene in schools in France the other six months.

To do this, I will now have to rely on partners and sponsors to help me prepare and fund large-scale expedition. THE CALL IS LAUNCHED!

For more information, please contact me or send me your comments.
Until then, I wish you a very good day!

The action of Arian Lemal (The Sweeper of the Peaks) is a personal action. In his spare time he organizes adventures for environmental awareness among youth and the public to the environment, including the value of water and waste management. It focuses on cleaning the mountains, he would like to thank them, and uses this action to reach young people and lead by example. Schoolchildren follow these adventures over the internet and then meet during these interventions volunteers in schools, asking in return the students to do a cleanup project: Students spectators become actors!

In the mountains, in a lengthy discussion with the Italians, they encourage me to do more: "You have a message to convey exciting. Use your adventures and your personality to convey the environmental message. " A few days later, the "Ascent of Aconcagua solo" was born ...

Today, the return shipping is supported, encouraged and strongly followed by schools and the public. I seriously urge and continue my projects.

Anecdote:

1st Ascension: Mount Kenya, Point Lenana, 4998m in 11 years.

I sulked and grumbled during the first 5 days. I did not walk 5-6am ... in those days! I preferred playing football or playing in the forest. Summit day, we were fed up of my sulking, I was told that I will not go to the top. I refused saying I do bouderai more and can not hear me more. I was determined to continue.
